Radar Front Ends

Our radar front-end solutions are built on our proven family of high-performance frequency converters. We specialize in the design of flat-response, highly isolated single- and dual-channel converter architectures for demanding radar applications.

A typical radar front end incorporates an up-conversion chain with filtering to suppress local oscillator (LO) leakage and unwanted sidebands, followed by a down-conversion stage driven by the same LO. This architecture produces an IF output at the same frequency as the input signal while maintaining a fixed phase relationship.

To meet specific system requirements, the design can incorporate additional elements such as transmit power amplifiers, circulators to protect against poor output matching, and integrated target test paths that enable calibration and system verification. Modules can be configured with single or dual outputs and provide extremely low noise figure on the receive path.

Each system can be fully customized to match the user’s application requirements. Our local oscillators can be locked to either 10 MHz or 100 MHz reference sources and are engineered to deliver exceptionally low phase noise.

These radar front ends are designed for reliable operation across land, sea, air, and space platforms.
