W-Band Extender Module

W-Band Extender Module

The W-Band Extender Module provides frequency and phase-locked up and down conversion between K-Band (20-27 GHz) and W-Band (75-82GHz). Therefore, no external frequency reference locking is required.

The up-conversion output features power amplification, and can produce up to +15dBm output power at W-Band.  The down-conversion input features a low noise figure (8dB) and very high input dynamic range.

The module features excellent spur and harmonic rejection and excellent isolation.  A built-in self-test mode is provided, where the up-conversion output can be internally connected back to the down-conversion input to validate performance, without affecting the test or operating environment.

The LO for the conversion can either be supplied externally, or can be generated locally, through the use of an add-on module.  The base module features SPI communication, while the add-on module adds support for USB.

The module can be used in conjunction with our DC-30GHz Dual Channel Up & Down Converter to extend test equipment from DC all the way to W-Band.
